PTFA
Our Aim
The aim of the Dodleston Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) is to raise funds to help promote and enhance the children's education and enjoyment at Dodleston C of E Primary School.
Each year we work with the headteacher and the staff to identify priority areas for us to fund, in addition, we also fund added extras such as the pupil's Christmas party and Year 6 leavers' gifts. I order to provide this vital support to the school, it is essential that we have a real focus on fundraising, with every donation going towards the benefit of the school and its pupils.
The PTFA is not all about fundraising though, it also enables there to be closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents, and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.
Who We Are
The PTFA is an association of parents, teachers and friends of the school. There is a group of committee members who meet on a termly basis to organise the events, accounts and ongoing running of the association. Members are elected every year with new members filling any vacancies left by people whose children leave the school or wish to stand down. The current elected members are:
Chair |
Sarah Peters |
Vice Chair |
Elaine Hamilton |
Treasurer |
Rob Beswick |
Secretary |
Suzannah Bonnington |
Communications |
Joni Rusling |
In addition to elected members, the friends and members are an invaluable part of the Dodleston PTFA, helping to organise and run events, giving as much or as little time as they can.
We warmly welcome any help that can be offered, whether it is helping prepare for or helping at an event, idea generation at our meetings or helping to spread the word about our events to muster up support. The PTFA is all about collective effort and we absolutely could not achieve what we do without the wider team.
We have a noticeboard in the playground and social media accounts to communicate about our upcoming events and ways you can help and get involved.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways you can get involved including:
Volunteer your time, knowledge and skills
Your time is very important to us, whether you can join the committee or our wider group of helpers, there’s lots of options to give us as much or as little time as you have, from helping at events to joining a meeting and helping make decisions on how to raise and spend funds, being part of our WhatsApp group or connecting us with people who could help us.
Many employers will have an employee volunteering scheme where employees can get paid time off to volunteer so you don’t always have to be using your own precious time to help.
To find out more or offer your help, speak to a PTFA member in the playground, come along to a meeting or get in touch with us online.
Organise your own fundraising
If you have any ideas for fundraising for the PTFA independently then we’d love to hear from you. We’ve had people taking part in organised races, running 5ks, marathons, triathlons, cycling and mud runs.
Employer Match Funding and Grants
Many companies throughout the UK offer employees the chance to boost their fundraising efforts by ‘matching’ the money they raise. Some companies will pledge time and resources instead of money or a tangible service such as the opportunity to print posters at work. Please ask your employers if they operate, or are interested in running, a matched giving scheme. Get in touch with us if they do, or if you would like any help.
